Total raised: $17,899.91
Total donated: $15,306.98
Total currently in fund: $2,592.93
This idea originated from an article in our local paper about a women who began recycling cans to raise money. Recycling is something Hannah and Colby do regularly with Dave. They take our cans and bottles to the grocery store or the beverage center and collect the money back from the deposits. Hannah had been looking into various ways to make money to help kids with cancer and she liked the idea of collecting cans and bottles for money! The money will be used to help improve the lives of kids dealing with cancer. This includes helping organizations such as Childlife at Schneider's, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital (where Hannah stayed for her inpatient rehab work while receiving radiation treatment in Boston), the Smiles for Scott Foundation (www.smilesforscott.com), and others. To find out more about each of these very worthwhile causes, click HERE.
How can you help? If you live in the area, you can drop off your cans and bottles (any and all that can be turned in for a deposit) at our house. We have set up two bins in the driveway marked "Hannah's Cans for Cancer." Hannah designed the signs herself. You can leave them anytime. If you need directions to our house, please email me.
Or, if you prefer, you can turn in the cans yourself and drop off the money. We have an envelope attached to the inside of the blue bin, just drop your money in there. If you live out of town, and want to participate, please send us your deposit money (checks can be made out to Kim Prokop, since we do not have a separate account for this project yet) and we will add it to the fund.
We hope we can continue to grow this project into a community wide effort. Watch for more to come!!

Hannah's blog was posted on our ^Sarah's^ cb site. I'm finally getting around to checking it out. I see we are both Kasey R fans. That was tough.
